Reasonable Requests

Each number corresponds to the numbered components on the preceding page. The following requests may reasonably be made during the negotiations:

1. Redefine position to the next level of grade or responsibility, thus moving it into a higher salary range.
2. Request to be included in a bonus plan structure (redefine position to a level, which receives bonuses).
3. N/A.
4. Change the timing or percentage of a salary increase. For example, you could accelerate the pay review to one after six months and another after 12 months.
5. Ask to increase base to cover the annual costs of private medical insurance.
6. Due to pension fund requirements, this is usually not negotiable, except for very senior positions.
7. Ask to waive the six-month waiting period.
8. Usual and customary reimbursement of business expenses meets your needs.
9. Ask them to include a mobile phone to enable 24-hour contact.
10. Ask for any professional subscription fees to be paid by the company, as your continual professional development will be of benefit to the company.
11. Ask for arrangement costs, mortgage difference, cost of bridging loan, and miscellaneous expenses, all amounts to be grossed-up due to allow for the tax on the benefit.
